Koh Clan Association
Founded in 1948, the Koh clan (高氏) recently celebrated 70 years of servitude to generations of Kohs in Singapore. The discovery of shared ancestry with four other surname clans (吕、卢、许、纪) some twenty years ago has allowed the clan to develop their inter-clan ties, with 22 world conferences held since in celebration of their shared roots.
Gan Clan Singapore
Founded in 1966, Gan Clan Singapore (formerly known as The Gan Clan Association) is a non-profit organization with roots that dates back to the pre-war days of Singapore in 1926. Today, the growing association has about 700 members and is recognised locally and internationally for its achievements and commitment to heritage preservation.
Tan Kah Kee Foundation
The Tan Kah Kee Foundation was founded in 1982 with a mission to continue Tan Kah Kee’s charity work and foster the entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to education which he exemplified. Tan Kah Kee rose to prominence as an eminent entrepreneur, social reformer, political activist, philanthropist, community leader and educationist and made immense contributions to both Singapore and China.
Chin Kang Huay Kuan
Founded in 1918, Chin Kang Huay Kuan was established to look after the welfare of fellow immigrants to Singapore from Jin Jiang, Fujian in China, and has more than 1,200 members today. It aims to contribute to the development of culture, education and commerce, as well as preserve and promote Chinese heritage.
Candlenut is the world’s first Michelin-starred Peranakan restaurant. Helmed by Chef Malcolm Lee, Candlenut adopts a contemporary yet authentic approach to traditional Straits-Chinese cuisine, and is committed to creating inspired and elevated Peranakan dishes using the freshest seasonal produce available.
Band of Doodlers
The Band of Doodlers is a community of artists on a mission to rid the world of blank spaces by filling them with characters and doodles. Advocating fun community collaboration through live doodling performances, the community currently has more than 800 members, including a stable of more than 200 artists of renowned illustrators, artists, and designers from Singapore and the region.
Straits Clan is a members’ club that pays tribute to the original clan associations of a bygone era. Borne out of a desire to do more and do better, Straits Clan brings together an intentionally diverse community made up of entrepreneurs, creatives and those passionate about social change and social responsibility.

Ranked 22nd on Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2016 just 6 months after opening, and 14th on the same list in 2017, the Gibson cocktail experience is designed to engage the senses in more ways than one.
It all started with one trip to the Hama Hama oyster farm in the Pacific Northwest. With their hands dipped in the coldest estuary in the region, Indra Kantono and his wife, Gan Guoyi, shucked live oysters while still standing waist-deep in the water, and eating them fresh there and then during one of their holidays. This extraordinary experience was so deeply ingrained in them it spawned the idea for another new project — Humpback.
Siong Leng Musical Association
Established in 1941, Siong Leng Musical Association (SLMA) is committed to preserving, promoting, and developing Nanyin and Liyuan Opera through education and outreach programmes, international cultural exchanges, and the provision of information and resources.
Run by husband and wife team, Kenneth and Huiwen Lau, Studio Asobi is a home-based pottery studio inspired by exploration and community. The studio donates 20% of their profits to local charity Mercy Centre, which looks after the homeless in Singapore,. They also support various causes and are currently collaborating with Healthserve, which serves injured migrant workers.
Public Culture is an editorial experience studio that supports small brands in their growth by developing conversations of value and content with longevity to build lasting connections within communities.
8EyedSpud is a Singapore-based illustration studio founded by Nat Kwee and Jackie Goh. Working as a duo, they bounce ideas off one another in a process they've coined Illustration Ping-Pong (TM), resulting in richer ideas that push the boundaries of their individual talents. Instead of a purely visual approach, they begin their projects with a single seed idea, around which the graphic style and narrative are built, allowing them to experiment with different illustrative styles and processes.
SCENE SHANG is a contemporary furniture, homeware and lifestyle label based in Singapore with roots firmly planted in a rich Asian heritage. Shaped to the semblance of 1930s Shanghai in all its former Art Deco glory, the brand looks to an era replete with blooming exuberance and unapologetic luxuries.
Founded by twin sisters and trained architects, Santhi and Sari Tunas, Binary Style seeks to create scarves with a story — conversation starters that are not only beautiful but are also comfortable and well-made.
Pixie Tan is a multidisciplinary designer and art director from Singapore. Between movement and placement, her body of work spans across moving images, graphic design, set design and fashion. She enjoys working with others and the breadth of her work encourages her to take a collaborative approach towards a practice centred on the conditions of labour. Her work has been shown at galleries and festivals such as the Supernormal (Singapore), Institute of Contemporary Arts (London), Palais De Tokyo (Paris) and Muestra Movimiento Audiovisual (Mexico).
Casa Poncho is a Latin destination restaurant, bar and enclave located at the former Keow Siong Club. Reminiscent of a grand home in Mexico, you are welcome to sit in the courtyard as the sun goes down, cocktail in hand, before you make your way to the main dining room to feast on pequeñitos.
